Everyone has a dream kitchen, right? Some people want it to be big with a freestanding range cooker.

Others want a cozy little nook with a breakfast bar. It all comes down to personal preference, of course – and other things.

The size of your kitchen space and budget are key factors. Of course, there are some styles that will not be affected by this.

Creating a minimalistic kitchen, for instance, is not limited to large spaces or tiny rooms. This style is used in all kinds of homes, by all types of people.

So, if you want to achieve a simplistic image, this this post is here to help.

Below, you will find four key practical tips to change your kitchen from disordered to simple and well-organ

Declutter

A minimal kitchen cannot happen if there’s clutter.

Clutter is the death of your simplistic-style dreams, so to speak.

Excess décor, gadgets, and other items give the room a chaotic feel, and this might become overwhelming if not stopped soon. No one wants this to deal with that, right?

But you must deal with it, if your aim is simple and minimal.

A simple aesthetic relies on clean lines and open, uncluttered surfaces.

Any non-kitchen items – think keys, mail, toys – should be the first to go. Only the items you use every single day should be stored on the counter. Anything used weekly must be placed into a cabinet.

Choose Neutral Colors

Beige, grey, taupe, and white – popular choices for those seeking a simple look. Although some people view these shades as boring, they do offer a timeless and versatile foundation.

Bold and trendy colors might fade in popularity quickly, but neutrals will remain stylish year after year. Particularly tones in matt finishes.

2026 seems to be the year for warmer tones, though. Shades like mushroom, oat, and taupe are said to make the kitchen more inviting, with cold greys being phased out.

This would work well for someone who has a lot of guests and uses their kitchen as the heart of the household.

Subtle contrasts could be added, too. Matt black, brass, or even copper handles and fixtures is enough.

These will add a little bit of personality without harming the simple aesthetic.

Utilize a Functional Layout

Style is big, but function is more important.

After all, you don’t want to be cooking in a kitchen that cannot be used efficiently.

So, while you do need to look at the style when creating a minimalistic kitchen, you must also think about creating a functional layout.

The Work Triangle is a good starting place. This means the hob, refrigerator, and sink are all positioned in a triangular formation. Ideally, four to nine feet apart.

You’ll find that unnecessary movement is minimized with this tactic. Your kitchen will instantly become calmer and more efficient.

Keep Appliances Hidden

While this fits into the first point – decluttering – hiding your appliances and other kitchen items might go a little further. In fact, this will depend on the type of cabinets your kitchen space has.

Tall and sleek cabinets are often preferred, as they will typically offer floor-to-ceiling storage. A big bonus, right?

As previously mentioned, anything you use less often should be hidden away. Items like your blender, slow cooker, tin opener, and whetstone, for instance.

It is best to keep these in the one place for easy procurement.

In some cases, you might even store them near the areas they’ll be used – such as keeping the whetstone near your knife block.

To conclude, a kitchen is an important room in any household.

If it’s the heart of your family home or just somewhere you like to sit with a coffee, achieving a simple aesthetic is a must.

Fortunately, using the four steps outlined above, you’ll manage to accomplish your goal.
